My journey started with a single wedding in Los Angeles back in 2011. What began as a passion project quickly became something bigger when I moved home to Maryland in 2014 after getting married. The referrals from LA kept coming, and I found myself at a crossroads: turn down work or figure out how to scale.
I chose to scale.
I started recruiting associate shooters and built a team that eventually covered 12 cities. Along the way, I lived through every stage of growing a wedding business — the startup chaos, the endless backlogs, the pressure of client expectations, the challenge of keeping quality consistent while taking on more work.
That experience taught me exactly what filmmakers and photographers need. Not just an editing partner — but someone who actually understands the entire business. The shooting, the client management, the late nights, the creative exhaustion, the parts nobody warns you about.
So Uncut Gems became more than an editing company. Once I saw how much time we could give filmmakers back, I couldn’t stop asking: what else is broken? What else are we all struggling with that nobody’s building the right solution for? That question led to CrowdReel — a way for your couples to collect guest photos and videos that you can sell as an add-on. Then Pixally — the CRM I wish existed when I was managing 12 cities worth of clients. Every product started the same way: a real problem I lived through, and frustration that nobody was solving it for our industry specifically.
My wife and I homeschool our four kids these days. I live by two mantras:
